The autumn season is upon us and we at Sharda University never miss a chance to fully engulf ourselves in the mist and mellowness of the season. Autumn Festival | Inter School Meet has now established itself as one the most enthralling festivals in the University. Continuing the tradition of providing an academically and culturally stimulating atmosphere, we endeavour to build on the grand success of Inter-School Cultural Meet 2014-15 and 2015-16 which saw a participation of over 1500 students from all the schools of the university. This third edition of Inter School Meet stands proof to the grandness of this series of competition building from a mere few Cultural events two year back to have over 50 events over a week of energy, enthusiasm, thrill, and fun.
Pump up this autumn, from 11th–18th November, participate in 50+ events and boost up your School teams. The #RACE2CUP has begun.
Rules & Guidelines
All the participants need to carry his registration receipt along-with college ID cards for each event.
Please carry your ID cards at all times during the Festival.
Please reach the venue half an hour before the event starts.
Slots allotment is solely on the discretion of coordinators.
In case of Sports’ Events, please carry all the necessary equipment from your side.
The decision of the judges and referees is final and binding.
Any violation of rules can lead to disqualification at any time.
Alcohol, drugs or use of any such psychedelics would lead to immediate disqualification and further action would be taken.
The organizing committee reserves the right to cancel your participation or any event at any moment.
The rules are not final and are subject to minor changes.

Events
Online registration will be closed by 5th noon and offline registration will be closed two hours before the start of the event
Light Vocal Solo
1. Schools can send at the most 5 entries selected on first come first serve basis.
2. Live Music is not allowed. Karaoke may be used.
3. Duration of the song shall be of 3 minutes for Prelims and 5 minutes for Finale.
4. Only non-film songs/ geet/ ghazal/ bhajan/ shabad and abhangas can be presented.
5. Judgment will be made on the qualities like swara, taal, selection of raga, composition and general impression.

Classic Solo
1. Schools can send as many entries as they wish.
2. Live Music is Not allowed. Karaoke may be used.
3. Duration of the song shall be of 3 minutes for Prelims and 5 minutes for Finale.
4. Item can be presented in either Hindustani or Karnatik style
5. Cinema songs are not allowed under this item.
6. Sufficient thought and care must be exercised in the choice of Raga and composition.

Western Solo
1. Schools can send as many entries as they wish.
2. Live Music is Not allowed. Karaoke may be used.

Western Group Songs
1. School can send as many entries as they wish.
2. Maximum 6 singers in a group maximum number of accompanists playing instruments shall be three.
3. The group songs should be taken from English language.
4. Maximum time allowed for the group song is 10 minutes which does not include setting time. The setting time for a group shall not exceed 5 minutes.

Indian Group Song
1. School can send as many entries as they wish.
2. A team has to present two songs, one patriotic and another will be a folk song.
3. Maximum 6 singers in a group and number of accompanists playing instruments shall be three.
4. The group songs should be taken from Indian songs which can be in regional language.
5. No film song should be presented as group song.
6. Maximum time allowed for the group song is 10 minutes which does not include setting time. The setting time for a group shall not exceed 4 minutes.

Instrument Playing
1. School can send as many entries as they wish. Duration of performance-10 min.
2. Time for stage/ Instruments setting is maximum 5 minutes.
3. Maximum number of accompanists is two.
4. Participants must bring their own instruments.
5. Item can be presented in either Indian style.
6. Judgment will be based on the qualities like taal, selection of raga, composition and general impression.

Classical Solo (Rules)
1. The music/song for the performance should be classical.
2. The contestants have to introduce the composition/dance form (purely classical) with all the necessary details viz. the form, Tal, Story/Bhav etc.
3. The maximum time allowed to each contestant is 3 minutes.
4. The music cassettes/Cds and playing electronic instrument should be installed much before the actual performance. No extra time shall be given for this purpose.
5. The contestants have to arrange for necessary costumes on their own.
6. The decision of Judges will be final and binding.
7. In case participants exceed the time limit Judges will be free to disqualify the participant.
8. The organizing Committee reserves the right to change the venue, time and rules, if desired.

Western solo (rules)
1. The contestants have to introduce the dance form which can be anything, experimental/freestyle.
2. The maximum time allowed to each contestant is 3 minutes.
3. The music cassettes/Cds and playing electronic instrument should be installed much before the actual performance. No extra time shall be given for this purpose.
4. The contestants have to arrange for necessary costumes on their own.
5. The decision of Judges will be final and binding.
6. In case participants exceed the time limit Judges will be free to disqualify the participant.

Contemporary Group (Rules)
1. The dance piece should be an abstract or a narrative one (solely contemporary).
2. Maximum 10 participants allowed per team. The team may consist of all boys or all girls or a mixture of both.
3. The number of accompanists permissible is 4.
4. The participating team is responsible for removal of their sets / properties etc., immediately after the completion of their performance.
5. Duration of dance should not be more than 10 minutes.
6. The contestants have to arrange for necessary costumes on their own.
7. Judgment is based on the basis of rhythm, formation, expression, costumes, make-up, sets on overall effect.

Folk/Tribal Group (Rules)
1. The dance can be either a primitive or a folk dance but not a classical one.
2. The music/song for the performance should be folk/tribal (non-film song).
3. Maximum 10 participants allowed per team. The team may consist of all boys or all girls or a mixture of both.
4. The number of accompanists permissible is 4.
5. Duration of dance should not be more than 10 minutes.
6. The contestants have to arrange for necessary costumes on their own.
7. A copy of a brief note giving the theme and the text of song if any is to be submitted along with the entry form at the time of registration.
8. The participating team is responsible for removal of their sets / properties etc., immediately after the completion of their performance.
9. Judgment is based on the basis of rhythm, formation, expression, costumes, make-up, sets on overall effect.
10. Time for sets / instruments setting is maximum 5 minutes.

Nukkad Natak(Rules)
1. Teams should comprise of 10-25 participants.
2. Time limit: 16 minutes incl. wind up.
3. Languages allowed: English, Hindi, Urdu or amalgam of the three.
4. No MICROPHONES, MUSIC SYSTEM, SPEAKERS or INSTRUMENTS can be used but team can sing/dance by themselves to create the necessary music or sound.
5. No assistance will be provide from hosts with respect to prop
6. Judging will be done on basis of CREATIVITY, HUMOR, CLARITY OF MESSAGE, TIME, PROPS, TEAM WORK.

Mimicry (Rules)
1. Each student artist shall be given 5 minutes.
2. Participants may mimic sound of machines and speeches of well know persons etc., including film personalities.
3. School can send as many entries as they wish.
4. Marking will be based on:
(i) Skill imitating.
(ii) Variety of sound and voices imitate.
(iii) Presentation.

Stand-up Comedy (Rules)
1. School can send as many entries as they wish.
2. Judgment will most likely be based on the qualities like idea, creativity of presentation, and general impression.
3. Duration of performance shall be maximum of 5 minutes.

Play (Rules)
1. School can send as many entries as they wish.
2. The duration of the play should not exceed 30 minutes.
3. Time will be counted as soon as the signal is given or the team starts giving introduction, whichever is earlier. Empty stage to empty stage shall be followed strictly. For stage setting and removal of set and properties, up to 10 minutes will be given after taking charge of the stage.
4. The number of participants should not exceed nine and the maximum number of
accompanists should not exceed three. The participating team shall bring their own
set/ stage property, make up material etc. Light and general property such as
ordinary furniture may be provided on advance information.
5. Participants may speak in Hindi, English or any regional language of India. In case,
the language is a regional one, the synopsis of the play with translation in, English
or Hindi must be submitted to the In-charge of the competition on the day of
registration.
6. The participating team must report to the In charge of the competition at least two hours before the presentation of the play.
7. Judgment will most likely be based on the qualities of the play like theme, work on
acting, stage craft, design and general impression etc.
8. Decision of the panel of judges will be final and binding upon all.
9. Accompanists will either speak from the background or will play upon musical Instruments
for background music. They shall not appear on the stage.

Essay Writing (Rules)
1. Each participating school can send as many entries as they wish.
2. The total duration will be two hours, during which the participant shall write the essay under the supervision of the officials.
3. Writing sheets will be provided by the University. Other material, such as pen, pencil etc., should be arranged by the participants themselves.

Quiz (Rules)
1. Rules to be disclosed on the spot.
2. Unlimited entries can be taken.
Solo Act (Rules)
1. The medium in which the participant is allowed to speak will strictly be English, although quotations from other languages can be used. These quotations cannot be more than 30 words long and need to be translated into English.
2. For all the personalities quoted or facts or figures spoken, proper citation need to be provided.
3. Ad-Hominem is strictly prohibited.
4. Internet usage or laptops or mobile phones is allowed, but the speaker is not allowed to carry any written material on to the stage (unless otherwise specified).
5. Participants are requested to carry pen or pencil and A4 size sheets with them.
6. The decision of the moderator will be final and binding.
7. Throughout the debate the participants will be judged on the following basis:
7.1) Coherence in speech.
7.2) Relevance in arguments.
7.3) Strength of arguments.
7.4) Defence of arguments.
7.5) Strength of rebuttals and responses.
7.6) Usage of time.
7.7) Subjectivity and objectivity.
7.8) Logical Consistency.
8. The event will have two rounds. The first one will be qualifying round from which a fixed number of participants qualify for main rounds. In the qualifying round each participant will speak for 4 minutes on any of the topics given below.
1) University fests are for love, peace and harmony and not just for competitions.
2) Nation first or human first.
3) Is India getting communal?
4) Newspapers are an outdated phenomenon.
9. In the subsequent round participants face each other in traditional one on one style.
10. The finale will follow traditional one on one followed by question and answer round.

Elocution (Rules)
1. Each school can send as many entries as they wish.
2. Medium of expression will be Hindi or English.
3. Each speaker will be allowed to speak for maximum five minutes.
4. Subject / Topic of Elocution will be announced in the managers meeting.
5. The performance will be judged in one language.
6. The item shall be prose or poetry and not song.

JAM (Rules)
1. Rules to be disclosed on the spot.
2. Unlimited entries can be taken.
Graffiti (Rules)
1. Schools can send only one entry.
2. The concept will be provided by the organizing committee.
3. Participants should bring their own things required for the competition.
4. All contestants must complete their mural within 2 hours.

Painting (Rules)
1. Each school will be represented by their participants.
2. Item will be conducted on the spot and participants will be requested to do painting on the subject given by the In charge (s) of the competition.
3. Duration will not be more than 2 hours 30 minutes.
4. Size of the painting will be half imperial size drawing paper, i.e. 22” X 15”.

Sketching (Rules)
1. Each school will be represented by their participants.
2. Item will be conducted on the spot on the given subject/idea.
3. Duration will not be more than 2 hours 30 minutes.

Installation (Rules)
1. Schools will be allowed to participate with four participants per team.
2. Duration will not be more than 2.30 hours.
3. This item pertains to arrangement of unity in diversity of elements inspired by material
arrangements for which particular space will be provided.
4. Item will be conducted on spot for which the topic will be mentioned.

On Spot Photography (Rules)
1. An school can send their participants.
2. The participant has to bring his/her own digital camera of not more than 12 mega pixels.
3. The digital camera should have a memory card which will be formatted by the judges before the commencement of the contest
4. The time limit will be 2.30 hours
5. The participant has to capture 5 photographs on the theme announced on the spot by the judges.
6. No mixing, matching or morphing of photographs will be permitted.
7. Software such as Photoshop etc. for enhancing images not permitted.
8. The organizers will have all rights for the use of these pictures as and when they deem fit.
9. Digital images are evaluated on the basis of (I) IMPACT, (II) COMPOSITION.
(III) TECHNICAL QUALITY, and (IV) SUITABILITY for the specific theme.

Rangoli (Rules)
1. Each school will be represented by their participants.
2. Duration will not be more than 2 hours 30 minutes.
3. Participants shall bring their own material. This art is know differently in various regions such
as Mandna, Alpana, Alekhan, Kolam, Rangoli, etc. For this the medium and form for
expression can be free hand, pictorial and descriptive
4. Only one medium shall be used – Poster Colours or Flower Petals or Saw- dust or Pulses or Rice without pasting.
5. The Participants shall have to prepare a rangoli within the space provided by the organizers.

Street Food (Rules)
1. Each school will be represented by their participants.
2. Group of students of a team should belong to the same country.
3. The participants should wear the dresses of their Native places.
